Questions about spray documentation

How long must spray records be kept?

Retention depends on regulatory and certification requirements (standard, export, GlobalGAP). Often at least 2-3 years. Check with an agronomist or the relevant authority.

If the supplier records on their side, do I still need to document?

Yes. The supplier documents their execution, but as a farmer you need your own record per plot, to follow up, plan the next spray and present it at inspection or certification.

Is a physical paper journal mandatory?

Not necessarily. Digital documentation is accepted (and even recommended). The main thing is that the information exists, is accessible and printable if needed. Check the specific requirements of the authority or standard you follow.

What if I forgot to record a spray from two weeks ago?

You can add it afterwards. Record the relevant information (estimated date, plot, product, dose). A photo of the WhatsApp order or the supplier invoice helps complete the details.

Do I need to record sprays I did myself?

Yes. Every spray, whether you executed it or a supplier did, needs to be recorded. The goal is to document what was done on the plot, not who executed.
